French Knowledge Test
The TEF is a linguistic exam used to assess the level of understanding and expression of people whose mother tongue is not French. This test is used for immigration to Quebec and is the only one accepted for the federal skilled worker program. In addition, the TEF comprising the two oral tests (comprehension and expression) is required to obtain Canadian citizenship.

The TEF for obtaining Canadian citizenship includes 2 mandatory sections
- Listening comprehension (60 questions). Duration of this test: 40 minutes
- Oral expression. Duration of this test: 25 minutes
The TEF includes 3 mandatory sections and two optional sections:

- Vocabulary & sentence structures (40 questions). Duration of this test: 30 minutes

- Written expression. Duration of this test: 60 minutes
